An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accountant to join a specialist accountancy team focused on the bloodstock, equine, and racing sectors. Our client is a highly respected and specialist accountancy and advisory firm with an established presence within the bloodstock, equine, and racing sectors. Operating nationally with a strong reputation in rural and specialist industries, the firm provides expert financial support to racehorse trainers, breeders, owners, stud farms, syndicates, and equestrian businesses.

As an Accountant within the specialist bloodstock and equine team, you will manage a portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services tailored to the unique needs of the industry.

• Managing a portfolio of clients across the bloodstock, racing, and equestrian sectors
• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns and tax computations
• Providing tailored financial advice and advisory support to clients
• Attending client meetings, including visits to training yards, stud farms, racecourses, and rural businesses
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships through proactive communication
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Reviewing work completed by junior staff and assisting with their development
• Assisting with agricultural and equine tax planning matters
• Working with cloud accounting software including Xero and Quick Books

The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) and will have experience working within an accountancy practice environment.

• Previous experience within general practice accountancy
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and VAT
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience using cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and Quick Books
• Ability and willingness to travel to client sites and rural locations
• Experience working with rural, agricultural, or equine clients would be advantageous
• A genuine interest in horse racing, bloodstock, or the wider equine industry is highly desirable

Candidates with specialist bloodstock experience may also be considered on a remote basis.
