Tennis Centre Instructor – Specialized 1-3 (Fall/Winter/Spring 2026‑2027)
Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! Working in Recreation means being a part of something special, gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events, and services.

- Deliver a fun, safe, and inclusive tennis class.
- Ensure attendance is taken at each class and all paperwork is handed in promptly on the last day of the session.
- Communicate with participants to troubleshoot and discuss any issues or concerns with the program.
- Liaise with the programmer to discuss any concerns, issues or developments with the program, facility, or participants.
- Manage their class time and preparation time, as well as arriving on time for their program.
- Provides information and customer service to the public.
- Complete incident or accident reports, administer first aid as required, and notify a supervisor as appropriate.
- Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
- Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development and High Five Sport certifications required.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.
- TPA Instructor Certification is required.
- Instructor 1 – Starting $30
- Responsible for program delivery of junior and adult group tennis classes
- Demonstrated work experience of at least two years in a club setting.
- Instructor 2 – Starting $35
- Responsible for program delivery of junior and adult group tennis classes, as well as private and semi-private sessions.
- Demonstrated work experience of at least three years in a club setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued education in tennis (example: workshops, seminars, etc.).
- Instructor 3 – Starting at $40
- Responsible for program delivery of junior and adult group tennis classes, as well as private and semi-private sessions.
- Demonstrated work experience of at least four years in a club setting.
- TPA Club Pro 1 certification or higher preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to continued education in tennis (example: workshops, seminars, etc.).
- Rate of pay will be determined by Town of Newmarket staff based on applicant experience and/or program requirements.
- Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through aWSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
