Position: Youth Program Instructor - Fall/Winter/Spring 2026-2027

Youth Program Instructor - Fall/Winter/Spring  - (26-119)

Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community. We are looking for dedicated individuals who enjoy working with others with a passion to deliver high quality programs, events and services. One thing is for certain, you will love the experience and our participants will too!

Responsibilities
  • Lead programs such as:
    Babysitting Training, Home Alone Training, Counsellor in Training, and Leader in Training courses.
  • Deliver course content in an engaging and enthusiastic manner, while meeting various learning styles.
  • Ensure accurate attendance is taken at each class, and all paperwork is completed and returned to Recreation Programmer after final session for documentation.
  • Meet with the Recreation Programmer to discuss concerns regarding the program, facility or participants, and any updates to course content.
  • Work with Programmer and Youth Centre staff on-site to ensure proper setup of course room prior to the beginning of their course.

Job Requirements
  • One to two years’ experience instructing children and/or youth.
  • Post-secondary education in related discipline (such as Recreation and Leisure, Concurrent Education, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
  • Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification required.
  • Availability/flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
  • Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.

    Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through aWSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
