Do you have a vibrant Christian faith and a desire to see others encounter God’s love? The Shop, a ministry of Youth Unlimited in Newmarket, is hiring a Youth Worker to help us.

About The Shop

The Shop Vehicle Donation Program, a ministry initiative of Youth Unlimited, exists to create life-changing opportunities for youth through hands‑on automotive training, mentorship, and employment preparation. Through donated vehicles, The Shop provides young people with practical experience in automotive service, while building confidence and character in a supportive environment.

About the Role

The Shop Youth Worker will join a team of youth workers, mechanics, and administrators to provide key support in the area of youth mentoring and skills training on our automotive Shop floor.

They will work alongside the existing Shop team to provide mentorship, life skills, and job skills training, which includes providing hands‑on training with Shop tools on donated cars, while also providing life skills, emotional, and spiritual support through one‑to‑one mentorship. This position includes working directly with youth as well as providing secondary support to other youth workers on the team. The Shop is a social enterprise, and this role will be required to engage in youth mentoring while also completing tasks required for the effective operation of the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Provide spiritual mentorship, guidance, and whole‑person care to youth served by The Shop, both on‑site and in approved off‑site contexts.
  • Support youth in developing basic job skills through hands‑on assistance in automotive, small engine repair, and related shop activities.
  • Participate in informal and group‑based discipleship moments, including workbench conversations, shared meals, and group discussions.
  • Provide consistent relational presence during Shop programming, offering encouragement, accountability, and support to youth.
  • Assist with operational tasks that support programming, including vehicle repairs, shop preparation, and approved administrative needs.
Key Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • A ministry heart and a desire to mentor young people and invest in the local community
  • Strong personal spiritual vitality and commitment to Jesus Christ
  • A faithful and contributing membership at a local church
  • 2–3 years of youth experience or other equivalent
  • Proficiency or interest in vehicle repairs
Position Information

This position is full-time at 40 hours/week. The expected salary range is $58,960 to $64,470. The salary of this staff position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is 100% funded on a missionary basis – requiring the successful applicant to fundraise and gather a personal support team.
