Water Operations Technician

Enhance your career with York Region as a Water Operations Technician in Newmarket, ON. This temporary full-time role focuses on maintenance, inspections, and optimal operation of water systems.

As an Operator, Water (OIT-IV), you'll report to the Supervisor, Operations, Maintenance and Monitoring. You'll perform routine maintenance, daily checks, and analysis on equipment, ensuring compliance with Provincial regulations. This is an ideal role for those with experience in water treatment and distribution, looking to enhance their skills while contributing to public service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform operations and maintenance at water treatment plants

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on pumping stations

• Ensure compliance through daily equipment checks

• Assist in reporting on water mains and treatment plant conditions

• Mentor junior staff and students to aid in their development

Requirements:

• Post-Secondary Diploma in Environmental Sciences

• MECP License for Water Treatment and Distribution (OIT – IV)

• Field experience in water/wastewater facilities

• Valid Class “G” driver’s license

• Ability to work in confined spaces and adverse conditions
