Job Responsibilities:

Lead manufacturing engineering activities across SMT, ICT, conformal coating, routing, selective solder, and functional test (FFT) lines to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance first-time-through (FTT), reduce scrap, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, PFMEA, 8D).Oversee test engineering strategy, ensuring robust ICT and functional test coverage, minimizing false failures, and improving fault detection and diagnostics.

Manage SMT programming and process control, including placement optimization, solder paste inspection (SPI), and reflow profiling, to ensure high-quality and repeatable outputs.

Ensure reliability and uptime of manufacturing and test equipment, coordinating maintenance, troubleshooting, and capital improvement initiatives.

Promote the continuous improvement of the department and keep current with new products, processes, materials and equipment technologies.

Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing process flows, line layouts, work instructions to ensure successful launches.

Conduct planned workplace inspections, as scheduled by Environmental, Health and Safety Active participant in the accident / incident investigation process to assist in determining root causes, corrective actions and follow-ups to ensure  new business quotes for manufacturing assembly process and direct labour costs.

Prepare, review and perform performance appraisals for reports while maintaining confidentiality of all personnel data.

Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring all health and safety policies are followed using the Zero Harm Program.

Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by all members within the department.

Facilitate and promote a work environment based on fairness and concerns for people, in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter.

Assists in execution of Dortec’s overall strategic objectives.

Meet all department objectives as set out by Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

Completion of relevant post-secondary education (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc) or equivalent experience3-5 years’ experience leading a small or large team of engineers3-5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering role Industry 4.0 knowledge an asset

Strong ability to understand data and complete data analysis

Project management experience
