Job Description

Underthe direction of the Supervisor, Right of Way Management, the Technical Student
- Civil Engineering Projects will be responsible for carrying out various types of inspections on construction projects to ensure conformance with approved permits, project design and specifications, completing daily inspection reports, recording and maintaining field measurements, and processing final payments.

Job Requirements
  • Currently enrolled ora recent graduate in a civil engineering technology post secondary program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a variety of personality types.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction or as part of a team, and to respond appropriately to any situation which may arise.
  • Understanding of soil, concrete, asphalt properties, civil design principles, construction, engineering, traffic analysis and municipal infrastructures. Previous sidewalk construction experience is an asset.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, contractors, other Departments and staff.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite of Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) and AutoCAD.
  • Class G driver’s license in good standing and a reliable vehicle available for corporate business driving to construction sites throughout the Town of Newmarket.
