Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (NT Power) delivers electricity to almost 50,000 customers within the Town of Newmarket, Town of Midland and Tay Township. Headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, NT Power has an additional office in Midland, Ontario, approximately one hour north of Newmarket along the shores of Georgian Bay.
We require a dynamic, highly motivated, and proactive Financial Analyst to work out of our head office in Newmarket. This is an 18-month contract position. This role operates in a flexible hybrid setting, combining remote and in-person work arrangements.
POSITION SUMMARYThe Financial Analyst provides regulatory and financial support to the Regulatory Finance Manager and the CFO. Responsibilities include mainly supporting the preparation and processing of the company’s cost of service rate filing and incentive rate mechanism filing with the Ontario Energy Board. Other responsibilities on an as-needed basis, include supporting regulatory projects, assisting with regulatory Reporting and Record-keeping Requirements (RRR) to be in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, and supporting regulatory financial reporting cycles.
The Financial Analyst will work in a team environment, providing day-to-day support on regulatory and finance function as required.
- Assist in the development of evidence required to file a strong, supported cost of service rate application
- Assist in the filing of incentive-rate mechanism application
- Assist in the coordination, organization, management of the various components required in rate applications
- Compile, prepare and analyze financial and regulatory information
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data throughout the application process
- Participate in the rate filing process
- Assist in the preparation, coordination and filing of the Ontario Energy Board’s RRR
- Support the month-end, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles
- Prepare journal entries
- Prepare reconciliations and account analysis
Prepare documentation for auditors and respond as necessary
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or related field
- Experience in a rate-regulated industry is an asset
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or related field
- CPA is preferred
- Understanding of the regulatory framework for utilities in Ontario, particularly as it relates to rate-setting
- Knowledge of month-end closing and reporting in a tight deadline environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well alone and as part of a team
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Experience in a unionized utility or regulated environment is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and One Drive

This is an new position with NT Power. The starting salary for this position is $81,820.08.
