Our client in the Newmarket area needs to hire a Cost Accountant to join their team.

This role manages comprehensive financial data reporting for a large-scale manufacturing facility. You will act as a critical link between plant operations and corporate leadership, ensuring the accuracy of production costs, variances, and financial forecasts. This position requires seamless collaboration with departments ranging from Engineering to Supply Chain to maintain data integrity within the ERP system.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Analysis & Reporting: Oversee frozen and current cost reporting. Manage the month-end close process, including variance analysis, contribution margins, and inventory reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of weekly sales/labor estimates, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets. Track commodity fluctuations and tariff impacts.
- Operational Oversight: Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and manage supplier rebates, surcharges, and accruals.
- Inventory & Audit: Serve as the lead auditor for physical inventories. Prepare working papers for internal/external audits and ensure compliance with global quality and safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Track cost-saving initiatives (CI), analyze scrap trends, and develop profitability models by part number and program.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to industry-standard quality management systems and regional regulatory requirements.
- Education: Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting;
CPA designation (in progress or equivalent) is required. - Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Technical
Skills:
Minimum 2 years of dedicated costing experience within an SAP/ERP environment is essential. - Advanced Excel: Must be proficient in complex data modeling and spreadsheet management.
