Senior Inclusion Facilitator (Summer Camps 2026) - (25-281)
Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team offers an opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community. It involves gaining valuable work experience, learning new skills, and delivering high‑quality programs, events and services for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities- Guide participants with disabilities through safe and well‑planned activities in a group setting.
- Adapt activities and modify program plans as needed.
- Manage behavioural challenges to ensure the safety of participants with disabilities, other participants and staff; occasional physical contact may be required.
- Provide personal care for children, youth or adults with disabilities, including toileting, changing and feeding.
- Communicate frequently with parents or guardians and collaborate with program staff to resolve concerns.
- Collaborate with other program staff and supervisors to discuss program plans, ideas, concerns and participant information (behaviours, interests, triggers, strategies, etc.).
- Post‑secondary studies in recreation, social work, education, personal support worker, recreation therapy or demonstrated experience (1–2 years) with children, youth and/or adults in recreational settings, including those with special needs.
- Certifications in behaviour management, mental health and addictions are an asset.
- Ability to participate and assist participants in a variety of recreational activities—including adapted activities, swimming, skating and other sports—and to assist with lifts and transfers.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with participants, staff, parents or guardians and the public.
- Excellent customer service, communication, leadership, and organizational skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR‑C certification required.
- Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required.
- Behaviour Management Systems, Safe Management or Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification required.
- Please Note:
Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
