Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Supervisor, Facility Operations, the Facility Worker is part of a front-line team responsible for cleaning, housekeeping, operation and maintenance activities related to town facilities including arenas, swimming pools, recreation centres, interior spaces and external amenities, and offices in accordance with policies, procedures, legislative requirements and industry best practices.
Job Requirements- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma and formal experience and knowledge in facility, arena and/or pool maintenance and operation or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification from a recognized professional organization or college.
- Basic Arena Refrigeration certification from a recognized professional organization.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, WHMIS, propane handling course, confined space, fall arrest, and forklift training required.
- Practical working knowledge of refrigeration plant and facility operations, pools, and associated equipment and maintenance procedures, applicable health and safety regulations (i.e. fire extinguisher, propane handling, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Health Protection Act. Amusement Devices (pool slide and inspection), Fire Protection and Prevention Act, Electrical Safety Authority, Building Code, and confined space regulations).
- Practical knowledge and ability to operate maintenance equipment including lawn mowers, genie lift and ice resurfacing equipment.
- Experience with MS Office, (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Flexibility/availability for shift work including availability to work and/or respond to after-hours emergencies and special events as required.
- Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to deal courteously and effectively with user groups, general public and program participants.
- Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing.
- A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required due to the nature of the contacts of this position.
