Job Description

Responsible for cleaning and general housekeeping of town facilities, facility set up and tear down for user groups and events; building cleanliness, garbage removal, washroom maintenance. Provides assistance and customer service to general public and user groups.
Job Requirements- Practical working knowledge of health and safety regulations and trained in WHMIS procedures to deal with equipment, cleaning chemicals and facility maintenance.
- Janitorial knowledge and the ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor waxers, scrubbers, cleaning chemicals etc.).
- Ability to read and comprehend WHMIS labels, complete logs and incident reports.
- Current First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.
- Flexibility/availability for shift work, weekends and evenings.
- Flexibility/availability for special events as required.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with user groups, general public, program participants.
- A Vulnerable Screening Sector is required. The Town of Newmarket is committed to carefully screening staff that have access to vulnerable persons.
