Maintenance Mechanic

This is a junior-level position suited for candidates starting their careers. Professional experience is not required; however, we are looking for someone with basic mechanical skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn.

The Maintenance Mechanicis responsible for the repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of stamping presses, roll forming equipment and automated assembly equipment in a JIT environment.

• Daily inspection and set-up of production equipment as required
• Building maintenance
• Feed coils into machines
• Make modifications to machines as necessary
• Ensure all equipment safety guards are properly in place
• Complete required inspection reports/checklists
• Operate various shop tools including lathe, milling machine
• Fabricate components for production machines
• General housekeeping of work area
• Other duties as required
• Always adhere to health & safety policies and procedures

• Willingness/flexibility to learn roll-forming and other processes required
• Strong organizational skills
• Willingness to work to meet deadlines
• Effective communicator with co-workers and all levels of management
• Ability to work well independently as well as in a team

• Strong mechanical skills
• PLC programming
• Experience in pneumatics and hydraulics (asset)
• Strong conventional machining and grinding skills
• Experience in precise measuring equipment (micrometer)
• Ability to read blueprints for milling and lathing
• Forklift experience and certification (asset)
