Become an Outreach Worker at Sandgate Women’s Shelter, focusing on community programs that empower women and children in York Region. Drive change by providing vital crisis support and education.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with women affected by violence in a full-time capacity. You will provide crisis intervention and facilitate support groups while engaging in community education to raise awareness. Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Working under a feminist and harm reduction framework, you will support women’s journey towards safety and healing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer individual and group crisis support

• Conduct safety risk assessments

• Facilitate educational community events annually

• Maintain up-to-date and confidential documentation

• Support women in navigating social services

Requirements:

• Background in gender-based violence support

• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

• Knowledge of the relevant local legislation

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Relevant degree or diploma in social services
