Housing Specialist

Position: Full-Time Housing Specialist Role
Join The Salvation Army as a Housing Specialist, providing crucial support to chronically homeless families in Newmarket and Sutton, Ontario. You'll facilitate housing options and promote stability through tailored case management.

This full-time position focuses on assisting individuals experiencing chronic homelessness in their journey to secure and maintain suitable housing. You'll engage with landlords and participants, ensuring access to essential services while enhancing their living conditions and overall well-being. Collaboration and empathy are key in addressing the diverse needs of those you support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a comprehensive database of housing options

• Facilitate connections between landlords and participants

• Support participants with financial accountability and budgeting

• Conduct housing assessments to determine best fit

• Provide ongoing support and advocacy for participants

Requirements:

• College diploma in Social Sciences minimum

• 1-3 years’ relevant experience necessary

• Strong understanding of the Tenant Protection Act

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good interpersonal skills and community resource knowledge
