Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Materials Manager in all areas of the organization.
  • Provide direct supervision for all shipping and receiving personnel in the plant and Warehouse.
  • Provide direct supervision for all Traffic personnel in shipping.
  • Provide support to Material Planners.
  • Ensure direct receiving of materials by the established company and customer standards.
  • Provide guidance, problem solving, and training for all direct reports.
  • Ensure all received material is accurately labelled and tagged (i.e. bar coding inventory system).
  • Direct the receiving functions, material movement, and personnel on a daily basis in the plant and in the warehouse.
  • Monitor window times and measure attainment.
  • Ensure orderly flow of materials to all assembly areas.
  • Ensure scanning is utilized in shipping and receiving.
  • Ensure proper tracking of customer returnable containers.
  • Monitor, organize, and authorize freight activities by contracted carriers.
  • Maintain and enhance daily trucking activies to maximize efficiency.
  • Responsible for storage and inventory control of all product within all storage locations.
  • Maintain and enhance process to manage all inventory procurement activities to/from our warehouse.
  • Plan and organize all locations to follow proper FIFO.
  • Responsible for daily review of all inventory adjustments and holding weekly inventory review meetings.
  • Issue, review and authorize DMN report for all nonconformances. Follow up for closure of all DMN’s.
  • Halt production or shipping process and follow the non-conforming procedure in the event of a nonconformance.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and monthly employee meeting.
  • Lead all physical inventory activities.
  • Monitor manpower requirements for Shipping and Material handling (make adjustments as necessary).
  • Perform performance reviews for shipping supervisor and lead-hand(s).
  • Track customer delivery performance and Internal Delivery Performance in appropriate database.
  • Monitor and complete all violation disputes in customer websites (Ford & GM).
  • Track and document corrective actions in DMN database.
  • Track all instances of customer/vendor premium freight in internal delivery performance database.
  • Maintain and enhance current process to monitor vendor warehouse inventory.
  • Manage and enhance warehouse consignment inventory, where necessary.
  • Review and update process flows, job instructions for department, as necessary.
  • Complete annual MMOG audits and update customer websites, as necessary.
  • Complete annual CTPAT audits and update customer websites, as necessary.
  • Create and Extract Power BI reports for operations, as necessary.
  • Create and manage SAP, IMS, and Power BI extracts to appropriate SQL and Excel Databases.
  • Create and Manage existing SQL/Excel database programs used for Operations.
  • Create Excel Pivot Table summary reports utilizing data extracts.
  • Work with IT to coordinate revision and implementation of new processes.
  • Manage and enhance current error proofing processes to improve production reporting accuracy, inventory control, and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Support and enhance the current Excel based Production Schedule.
  • Manage and enhance use of barcodes throughout the manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Manage and enhance the current Excel based WMS used to replenish material at manufacturing facility.
  • Participate in Launch Readiness meetings, as required.
Basic Requirements
  • Completion of Supply Chain Management degree or related field (i.e. business management).
  • 3+ years of experience in a Materials supervisory role in the automotive industry.
  • Extensive use of ERP systems (SAP)
  • Expert computer skills in the areas Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Self motivated, able to work under limited supervision.
  • Comprehensive understanding of lot traceability.
  • Ability to work in a very busy environment.
  • Must have production, planning, shipping, and warehousing experience.
