Special Education Paraprofessional/Bridge

Location:

Arnco Sargent Elementary School.

Salary: $14.57/hour, 7.5 hours/day (prorated if you do not start at the beginning of the school year). 183 Day Calendar.

Job Description:

• Provide competent support and assistance to classroom teachers in full implementation of instructional programs.
• Meet and instruct assigned groups and individuals as directed by the teacher.
• Present materials within curriculum guides and under teacher direction.
• Assist in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and tailored to student needs.
• Prepare for teaching groups/individuals and provide input for assessing student accomplishments.
• Maintain a safe environment, protecting students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate records and support administration policies.
• Enforce classroom behavior rules fairly and maintain order.
• Provide feedback to learners about academic progress and behavior.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Organize, distribute, and collect instructional materials.
• Follow any reasonable oral or written directive of the teacher, principals, or supervisor.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
• Support students in various settings, including personal hygiene, toileting, health, and safety.
• Perform health procedures (e.g., medication administration, tube feeding, catheterization) after completing required training.
• Participate in training to increase skill with students with disabilities.
• Assist with specialized feeding requirements.
• Assist with positive behavioral supports/interventions.
• Follow safety procedures when lifting students and operating wheelchairs and other equipment.
• Perform special duties for meeting specific needs of physically disabled students.

Required Education, Certification or Training:

• Qualify for a Paraprofessional Certificate by holding an Associate Degree or higher, or 90 college quarter hours (60 semester hours), or passing the GACE assessment.

Required Skills:

• Organize, direct, and control small and large groups of children in various activities and settings.
• Adjust to changing conditions and situations.

Required Experience:

• Experience working with and directing activities of children, preferably in an educational setting.

Qualifications: As the Board may deem appropriate and acceptable.
