Senior Manager of Design and Engineering
Position Summary: The Senior Manager of Engineering and Design is responsible for leading and managing all engineering and design activities related to precast concrete products and structures. This role ensures that all designs meet structural and functional requirements while adhering to applicable standards and contract specifications. A key focus is developing, teaching, and reinforcing best practices across the engineering and design teams.
Because this work requires precision and attention to detail, the Senior Manager is expected to model and instill a culture of consistency, accountability, and thoroughness—ensuring that critical processes are executed correctly every time. The Senior Manager collaborates closely with Sales, Project Management, and Production to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and constructible designs that align with project and company objectives.
- Lead the engineering and design teams, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant project deliverables.
- Teach, coach, and reinforce standard work practices to ensure each team member follows established design and engineering procedures with precision.
- Develop and maintain design standards that align with industry best practices and company objectives.
- Ensure that all engineering work complies with structural codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and continuous training to engineers, designers, and drafters to promote professional growth and accountability.
- Collaborate with sales and project management to evaluate design feasibility, value engineering options, and constructability during the bid and pre‑construction phases.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of design drawings, 3D models, and engineering calculations.
- Drive process improvements to increase design efficiency, accuracy, and standardization across the organization.
- Monitor team workload, priorities, and schedules to ensure on‑time delivery of all project submittals.
- Implement and reinforce the use of design tools and technology to enhance modeling, collaboration, and document control.
- Lead by example in attention to detail, ensuring that all deliverables are complete, accurate, and aligned with internal standards.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction by ensuring all deliverables meet or exceed expectations for quality, performance, and schedule.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of engineering and design experience within the precast concrete or structural construction industry.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within a designated timeframe.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers and designers in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or other 3D modeling/design platforms.
- In‑depth understanding of ACI, PCI, and ASTM standards and precast manufacturing processes.
- Prior experience developing or managing engineering standardization and training programs.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency using Titan ERP is a plus.
