The X-Ray Technician - Fluoroscopy is responsible for providing radiologic films as directed by the physician and maintaining radiology equipment and supplies. This position will be doing fluoroscopy full-time. You must have an associate's degree in radiology or a related field from an accredited program. Experience in fluoroscopy preferred. Candidates must be able to ease patients into the process of taking an x-ray and be able to explain each phase of the procedure.

It is also very important to keep the imaging room clean and maintain all privacy regulations. A certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the exam room for the proper procedure.
  • Coordinate and follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging for proper delivery of images.
  • Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety.
  • Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position.
  • Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
  • Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding.
  • Develop/process films according to instructions for equipment; informs physician when film has been developed and is ready for reading.
  • Marks the encounter form to show which views were taken.
  • Sends films for reading by radiologist at the instruction of the physician.
  • Scans/files patient documents into Touch Chart.
  • Orders all supplies, film, envelopes, cards and markers.
  • Creates patient identification labels for film jackets and attaches them for easy identification.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on x-ray equipment; ensures that equipment complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Complies with all OSHA mandates for dosimeter readings and quality assurance.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Typical Physical Demands: Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds, as well as help lift patients onto the x-ray table. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.

Employee will work under stressful conditions and work irregular hours. Employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.

Typical Working Conditions: Employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Pay Range: $35-$45 per hour
