Admissions Representative I:
Registration
Multiple shifts and statuses available in either Newport Beach or Irvine.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs a Registration Representative, you work directly with patients and clinical teams to ensure timely and accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and payment collection while adhering to federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Facilitate the arrival process for patients.
- Create accounts for initial intake upon presentation to the check‑in area.
- Monitor patient queues to ensure timely registration processing.
- Follow established HIPAA protocols for proper patient look‑up and complete registration.
- Verify insurance eligibility and accurately code insurance for timely billing.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and insurance questions.
- Collect all copayments, co‑insurance, and deductible limits.
- Obtain required signatures, IDs, and consents for regulatory requirements (e.g., photo , COA, MSP, advanced directives).
- Confirm and communicate patient registration status, in‑/out‑of‑network status, and maintain service level to avoid delays in patient care.
- In outpatient settings, schedule same‑day and follow‑up appointments, validate physician orders, and confirm accuracy of MD and service codes.
- In emergency departments, follow EMTALA guidelines.
- Generate task reports to monitor workload and inventory.
- Seek assistance when needed to maintain 100% service level targets.
- Meet daily productivity expectations in accordance with department standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year of clerical experience with medical terminology, filing, computer skills, and basic telephone skills.
- High level of computer keyboarding skills for data input.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Effective communication in English, both written and oral.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities with proactive decision making and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships.
- Strong customer service skills.
