Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Education Coordinator II (Nurse Educator II) builds on the Educational Coordinator I role and responsibilities. The role serves as the educational resource for the assigned service line, assesses educational needs, and provides services, classes, online modules, and other educational materials to achieve educational goals. The Coordinator participates in meeting or exceeding quality indicator goals, oversees orientation for new hires, conducts annual skills reviews, maintains competency certifications for clinical staff, and mentors frontline staff in innovation and research projects.
In inpatient hospitals, the Coordinator ensures compliance with CMS Quality Outcome and Safety Indicators and exceeds Magnet outcome benchmark goals, and coordinates and participates in re-certification programs. The Coordinator also leads teams to implement changes aimed at improving patient outcomes, guides staff in solving complex patient care problems, and plans growth and development of clinical staff and departments.
As the lead for education in Cardiac Surgery, the Coordinator ensures practices align with operational and strategic goals, collaborates with Cardiac Physicians, Intensivists, HVI Director, and other key stakeholders, trains and mentors staff, provides feedback to managers, and assists in developing policies, guidelines, and protocols. The Coordinator also recommends order set development and electronic medical record documentation.
Qualifications- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
- Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience in the specialty.
- Experience with PowerPoint and presentation technology.
- Minimum of four (4) years experience with Cardiovascular Surgery.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in California, current and in good standing.
- Specialty certification required, BLS required.
- Additional certifications based on department: ACLS for Critical Care, Telemetry, Brain and Stroke Unit; ACLS and PALS for Emergency Department; ACLS for Hoag Orthopedic Institute; NRP for Labor and Delivery; CNOR for Operating Room; ACLS for HVI.
- Preferred additional certifications: AHA Instructor status, MICN, CSC.
