Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Security Operations I, the Supervisor of Security Operations II, the Manager of Security, and the Chief Security Operations Officer, a Security Officer Professional II is responsible for promoting a safe and secure environment at Hoag properties through a variety of methods and approaches. Security Officers routinely employ common sense and sound judgment to troubleshoot a wide range of security-related issues, striving for effective and collaborative solutions that align with company policy and the organization’s mission.
The role requires responding to a wide range of security-related calls; these may involve suspicious activity on Hoag properties, crimes in progress, unsafe situations related to the physical environment, traffic or parking matters, or workplace violence incidents. It also includes auditing security cameras, managing supplies, ensuring proper procedures for contractor badge issuance, and may serve as a Security Dispatcher.
Routine duties include proactive patrols of Hoag properties, recognizing and appropriately responding to unsafe or suspicious activity, and maintaining high levels of motivation.
Key skills: de-escalation, effective communication, laws of arrest, use of reasonable force, physical intervention techniques, proper investigation and report writing.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of healthcare security experience or 2 years of relevant experience.
- Record free from criminal convictions involving acts of moral turpitude or excessive traffic violations.
- Within six months of assignment:
First Aid/CPR/AED, IAHSS (Basic or Advanced), FEMA IC 100. - Preferred:
Prior military, law enforcement, code enforcement, customer service or hospital security experience; PC 832, FEMA IC 200, HAZWOPER. - Training in effective communication, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, workplace violence response, use of reasonable force, management of aggressive behavior, handcuffing techniques, laws of arrest, field investigations, and report writing.
- Completion of a security officer classroom and field-training orientation program; annual in-service training (minimum 24 hours).
- License required:
Valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services License for Security Guard, valid California driver’s license.
