Seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Project Superintendent to oversee complex commercial construction projects, specifically within the demanding healthcare sector, in the Newport News, Virginia area. The Superintendent will be the critical link on‑site, supervising all trade partners and collaborating closely with the entire project team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards for clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • On‑Site Leadership & Mentorship: Provide direct oversight, management, and mentorship to all field staff, fostering a high‑performance, team‑oriented work environment.
  • Logistics & Planning: Strategically develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive site logistics plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Trade Partner Management: Expertly manage and coordinate all subcontractors, including defining scope of work and developing and enforcing the project schedule.
  • Scheduling & Progress: Develop and actively manage the construction schedule, providing consistent updates, tracking progress, and proactively identifying solutions for potential delays or site impacts.
  • Quality & Compliance: Perform detailed constructability reviews and ensure uncompromising quality control that meets or exceeds all established project and client requirements.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) and manage all required special inspections to ensure full compliance.
  • Safety Enforcement: Lead and uphold stringent safety standards and requirements, ensuring a safe and compliant job site for all personnel.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent.
  • Project Size: Proven track record of successfully managing large‑scale projects valued at $20 Million or more.
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior construction experience with a specific focus on healthcare facilities is essential.
  • Safety Certification: Current OSHA certification is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to fluently read, interpret, and understand all technical specifications and architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Software

    Skills:

    Demonstrated proficiency with core construction and scheduling software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Blue Beam, and various scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Phoenix).
  • BIM

    Experience:

    Familiarity or direct experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and active listening skills, with a proven ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
