Job Description
Lead Superintendent – Newport News
A Superintendent is the on-site leader of a construction project and a vital member of the GC project team. The Superintendent must have the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to manage the day-to-day field operations of multifamily construction projects. As Superintendent, you will be responsible for all production aspects of a project. In this position, you will be accountable for producing quality work consistent with the standards outlined in the project’s contract documents.
Additionally, you will work in a timely and cost-effective manner and strive to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Prior exp leading & managing other superintendents
- 5-7 years of construction experience in a lead field supervisory role.
- 10+ years of professional construction experience
- Experience in residential high-rise construction is required.
- Proven track record managing projects in the $100M+ range
- BA/BS degree in engineering, architecture, construction is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team, as well as direct and manage the work of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Must be comfortable learning and using technology such as the sector-specific software Pro Core, Primavera P6, or Blue Beam, and possess a high level of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
- Must be able to travel locally to project sites as needed.
- OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid training certifications are preferred, but not required.
- Initiate safety protocols and ensure that safety standards are observed at all times, including OSHA, HAZCOM, NFPA, and other applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations and standards.
- Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of a project’s scope
- Create and maintain a Primavera P6-generated baseline schedule that defines the critical path and shows the completion of a project according to contract completion dates and building turnover sequence.
- Maintain an up-to-date, as-built set of plans for the project and ensure the completion of as-built plans by subcontractors.
- Prepare, maintain, and amend as needed the project site utilization plan for temporary facilities, MOT/TCP coordination, material and equipment movement, material and equipment staging, and site access.
- Serve as the point of contact on-site for owners, consultants, subcontractors, and inspection agencies.
- Manage all subcontractor work on a project including work put in place, submittals, punch list items, schedules, and safety audits.
- Work with project management to maintain a project’s budget.
