- Support plant maintenance and building construction.
- Draft blueprints, supervise construction projects, and ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations.
- Plan, design, and oversee construction and maintenance of structures and infrastructure including roads and sewage systems.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and local enforcement agencies to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Analyze, research and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non‑metallic or composite structural materials for product design or operation including structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs.
- Analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
- Use tools such as CATIA, IDEAS, Pro Engineer and various software applications.
- Master’s Degree and 0 years of relevant professional experience qualifies.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience qualifies.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
