The ideal candidate will have a Welding Engineering background with understanding of welding and material science principals and concepts in shipbuilding. This individual should have a strong technical background in Shipbuilding welding processes. This individual will lead a team of engineers developing critical Welding Procedures and manage the company’s welder record system. This individual must have good leadership and communication skills to discuss technical issues with the Navy Customer and present welding recovery information in a timely manner.

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design;
  Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• Willingness to support all E37 Welding Engineering department functions as needed.
