The SSN(X) Platform Mechanical team seeks a highly skilled system engineer to shape critical functions for the Navy’s next‑generation fast attack submarine.
Job Responsibilities- Support system integration across multiple systems and disciplines.
- Coordinate with the digital engineering team for model‑based engineering of mechanical systems.
- Develop processes, tools, and other products necessary for program execution.
- Re‑envision ship specifications.
- Coordinate with Navy counterparts and conduct periodic briefs.
- Oversee work of supporting team members and review technical products.
- Travel periodically to naval bases/facilities, vendors, conferences, or other NNS facilities.
- Strong technical background with comprehensive knowledge of ship systems and components across the platform.
- Strong team collaborator and coordinator to integrate multiple teams with diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support development and presentation of technical reports and briefs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program and 9 years relevant exempt experience.
- Master’s Degree and 7 years relevant professional experience.
- Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of submarine systems and their interfaces across structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in traditional and computer‑based methods for design and analysis of components.
- Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Openness to continuous learning and development in a dynamic environment.
- Operational experience on commissioned or under‑construction Navy vessels.
