This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational integrity and safety of nuclear propulsion systems. You will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and executing complex test programs for the U.S. Navy. This position requires a unique blend of engineering rigor, shipyard operational knowledge, and a commitment to nuclear safety. Whether you are early in your career or bring several years of expertise, we encourage you to apply. Engineering Test Operations 1 - Salary Range $ 65,725.40 Engineering Test Operations 2 - Salary Range $ 82,963.4 What You Will Do
* Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
* Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
* Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
* Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
* May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. What You Must Have Education/
Experience:
* Engineering Test Operations 1 - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
* Engineering Test Operations 2 - Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Security Compliance Knowledge & Operational
Skills:
* Candidate must have experience in reading and interpreting Engineering Drawings and Schematics
* Candidate must have the ability to work in a team environment planning and coordinating with other functional departments across a wide range of disciplines.
* Candidate must have great communication, organizational and computer skills.
* Candidate must be a US citizen.
* Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance. Bonus Points For Having!
* Shipyard or US Navy A4W propulsion and/or reactor plant construction, operation, and/or maintenance experience.
* Working knowledge of shipyard work controls processes to include proficiency with Electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS).
* Active Confidential DOD Security Clearance.
