Position OverviewJoin the team of technical planners and system integrators at HII Newport News Shipbuilding
. The role requires a U.S. Citizenship and a final clearance, a full‑time shift with 1st‑shift duties and 10–25% travel.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience.
- Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
The Undersea Systems group is responsible for concept design, development and execution of programs and projects to integrate advanced systems and payloads on submarines and other platforms. The candidate will participate in the development and integration of advanced systems related to maritime applications including submarine systems and sub‑sea warfare systems.
Ideal Candidate- Considerable Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) / Digital Engineering (DE) experience
- SysML modeling, CAMEO applications, or other MBSE software experience li>
- Experience working within a large team
- Significant interest in learning from others
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Interested in solving challenging problems
- Self‑starter, proficient communicator, and active listener
- Persistent in the pursuit of achieving successful results
- Capable of executing within a team located onsite and/or remotely
