Position: PHP/ACUTE THERAPIST (MA/MSW)

PHP/ACUTE THERAPIST (MA/MSW) at Newport News Behavioral Health Center

Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment program for psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11-18. The program offers an on‑site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming in a beautiful seaside city with easy access to DC and other major Northeastern cities.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of inpatient, continuing care, and family services. The therapist provides clinical support to other staff, conducts psychosocial assessments, develops treatment plans, and facilitates group, individual, and family therapy.

Responsibilities

Provide evidence‑based individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents, conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, facilitate educational lectures to staff, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree and licensed or license‑eligible in the State of Virginia in psychology or a related field.

Experience: At least two years of experience conducting group, individual, and family therapy using a variety of treatment modalities; one year of experience treating adolescents; ability to compose and deliver educational lectures; effective verbal and written communication; at least one year treating a variety of mental health disorders.
