- 7:00am-3:30pm (Monday-Friday)
- 7:00am-11:00am (Saturday & Sunday)
Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment for psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11‑18 years. Newport News has an on‑site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. Newport News, VA is a beautiful seaside city, rich in maritime history and conveniently located to DC and other major Northeastern cities.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining all patient care areas and all office areas in a clean and sanitary manner. She/he ensures a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of his/her assigned area daily. She/he will also handle special or quarterly cleaning tasks as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Empties and cleans all trash cans daily.
- High and low dusts all furniture and surfaces daily.
- Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains daily.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and doors daily.
- Disinfects patient bedrooms daily.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Checks and fills all linen supplies.
- Collects dirty linen and prepares linen carts for laundry service pick‑up daily.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Sanitizes washing machines on a scheduled basis.
- Follows infection control policies and procedures when handling infectious waste.

Job Requirements:
Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and units as necessary, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Must have at least one year of related experience.
