Responsibilities

Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108 bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment for psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11-18yrs. Newport News has an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming.

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of inpatient, continuing care and family services. This includes providing clinical support to other staff members, conducting interventions, conducting psychosocial assessments, developing the resident’s treatment plan, conducting group, individual and family therapy.

Education: Must have a Master’s Degree and be licensed or licensed eligible in the State of Virginia in the field of psychology or a related field.

Experience: Must have at least two years experience conducting group, individual and family therapy using a variety of treatment modalities. Must be able to compose and deliver educational lectures. Must be able to communicate effectively with other health care professionals, both verbally and in writing. Must have at least one year treating a variety of mental health disorders. Prefer 1 year experience working and/or treating adolescents.
