Description

The EMT field provider is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating in non-emergency and/or emergency modalities as a rescue unit in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and directives. The EMT-B leads, directs, and participates in the delivery of basic life support and advanced life support in pre-hospital or facility situations, providing direction to crew members as attendant-in-charge and delivering emergency medical care as per medical control or patient care protocols.

• Time will be spent leading, directing, and participating in the delivery of basic life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
• Gives direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examines patients and reports findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
• Delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
• Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations, company policies, and federal, state, and local laws, regulations and statutes.
• Responsible for completing and recording all required reports or runs made by the crews.
• Assuring that assigned vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response and at the end of each shift.
• Cleaning patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines.
• Fuel unit at the end of every shift to maintain emergency readiness of unit.
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet.
• Maintaining office, lounge, bunk room, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
• Attending training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company.
• Maintain all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supply the Human Resources Department with valid copies of all certifications and driver’s license prior to their expiration date.
• Performing other related duties as required by management.

Required licenses or certifications:

• Current Virginia EMT Certification
• Current CPR, Healthcare Provider Issue
• Valid Driver’s License and no negative points.
• Pass a criminal background check

• TIMS
