Overview
The PC Technician I performs general Help Desk and PC Tech duties by providing courteous technical expertise on the telephone or in person for reported hardware or software problems. The tech will assist and coordinate support across multiple Information Systems departments to include but not limited to IS Telecom, Network, Server, Email, Workday, and iCare teams. The role is based in Newport News, Virginia and serves multiple Riverside locations across the health system.
Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise for reported hardware or software problems over the phone and in person at multiple Riverside locations across the health system.
- Ensure that all phases of end‑user support are coordinated, monitored, logged, tracked, and resolved appropriately; create and maintain documentation such as Help Desk User Guides and Knowledge Base articles.
- Assist and coordinate support across multiple Information Systems departments, including IS Telecom, Network, Server, Email, Workday, and iCare teams.
- Support Construction Management and system offices and units to coordinate moves and installations.
- Perform special assignments and projects to support IT operational needs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Associate’s Degree in Information Systems (Preferred)
- 1 year experience in Healthcare processes and procedures and the use of information in clinical and financial departments (Preferred)
- 1 year experience assessing and analyzing customer’s technical issues via phone or in person (Required)
- Valid Driver’s License required; able to drive personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time.
Two certifications required from the following:
CompTIA A+ CE, CompTIA N+ CE, CompTIA Security+ CE, Apple Certified Support Professional, Apple Certified IT Professional, Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Certification timelines: first certification obtained within 90 days of start date; second certification within 180 days of start date.
