Registered Nurse

Position at US Oncology Network (Virginia Oncology Associates) located in Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg.

This role is part of a dedicated oncology and blood disorders practice dedicated to delivering high‑quality patient care across multiple locations.

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under physician direction and supervision
• Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under physician direction and supervision
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including abnormal labs, imaging, and drug reactions; initiates appropriate action
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivery systems
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow
• Handles phone triage as assigned
• Documents all elements of care
• Provides support to Medical Assistants
• Communicates all pertinent information and interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider
• Assesses patient and family needs

• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program required; BSN preferred
• Oncology experience strongly preferred
• Current RN state license required
• Current BCLS certification required
• OCN certification preferred
• Willingness to travel between offices as needed

The work environment includes patient contact in oncology/hematology clinic settings with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Employees are regularly exposed to direct contact with patients and potential exposure to chemotherapeutic agents and other toxins.

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye–hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods; occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lb. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
