Job Summary

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards, including those for patient assessment and transfer. The primary function of this role is to be available and flexible to float to various departments and sites within the organization, providing patient care. This can include scheduling daily staffing, handling multiple assignments within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns.

The RN works as part of the health‑care team under the direction of a clinical manager or designee.

Essential Functions
  • Float to multiple sites within a single market based on competency.
  • Support organization, departmental, and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Serve as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response, and documentation.

Education
  • Associate’s of Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
Required Licensing & Certifications
  • Current nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Various (required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS–AHA) – required based on specialty assignment.
Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required)
