The Gluonic Excitation Experiment (GlueX) at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) studies the light-quark meson spectrum and the role of hybrid mesons. We seek a postdoctoral research fellow to strengthen our efforts using modern analysis methods and high-performance computing.
Responsibilities- Apply amplitude analysis methods to extract signals for exotic mesons from GlueX data
- Develop and benchmark analysis software on top-of-the-line graphics processors (GPUs)
- Lead the investigation into novel AI/ML methods for problems in hadron spectroscopy
- Present results at international conferences and contribute to publications
- Possibility to contribute to development of real-time data processing schemes on FPGAs for GlueX detector upgrade
- Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and explain work to supervisor and the group
- Ability to interact well with the work group
- Represent work associated with specific projects at professional meetings
- Experience in data analysis
- Experience with AI/ML techniques
- Experience in hadron spectroscopy using amplitude analysis
