Two weeks of unpaid training in the Insulator trade for job seekers with no trades experience or for candidates holding a certificate in a related field.
Responsibilities include removing, repairing, and installing various types of insulation (fiberglass, calcium silicate, rubatex) on piping systems, ventilation systems, and other ship components. Candidates should be able to lift 40 lbs, climb, crawl, bend, squat, and stand for up to 8 hours per day and work in various environments.
Program details: partnered with Virginia Ship Repair Association and local colleges; 2‑week (80‑hour) unpaid program from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday‑through‑Friday.
Must Have- Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb daily.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Perform overhead work.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Be clean shaven to wear respirator.
- Work outdoors year‑round in all weather.
- Work at extreme heights.
- Work in small, tight, confined spaces.
- Willing to work any shift.
