As Earthworks Manager you will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day earthworks operations, ensuring cut & fill activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements
- Supervising site teams, subcontractors and plant operations, coordinating labour and resources across bulk excavation and remediation works
- Overseeing all earthworks activities, including stripping, excavation, fill placement, capping layers, haul roads and formation preparation
- Monitoring levels, volumes and progress, working closely with Engineers and Surveyors to ensure works meet design tolerances and specifications
- Managing programme and sequencing of works, ensuring efficient movement of materials and utilisation of plant across site
- Ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards, implementing RAMS and maintaining safe working practices around heavy plant operations
- Overseeing testing and QA procedures, including compaction testing, moisture control and verification of formation levels
- Liaising with the client, main contractor and technical teams, resolving site issues and coordinating inspections and approvals
- Managing site logistics and environmental controls, including dust suppression, haul routes and waste/material management
- Maintaining accurate site records and reporting, including progress updates, plant utilisation and QA documentation
- Proven experience managing bulk earthworks or cut & fill operations within civil engineering or groundworks environments
- Strong understanding of earthworks sequencing, plant operations and material management across large-scale sites
- Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and heavy plant, driving productivity and programme delivery
- Good knowledge of HSEQ, QA and testing procedures, including compaction, formation and earthworks compliance standards
- SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS
