Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and knowledgeable Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor or School Nurse) who has a passion for safeguarding, to join the Milton Keynes 0-19 Children’s Universal Health Service as a 0-19 Safeguarding Triage and Duty Practitioner for a six-month secondment. This innovative Band 6 role focuses on safeguarding triage, duty and information sharing across the 0-19 pathway, ensuring children, young people and families receive timely, appropriate and effective safeguarding responses.
Working closely with health, education, social care and partner agencies, you will play a key role in identifying risk, supporting professional decision making and promoting the welfare of children. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced practitioner with strong safeguarding knowledge who is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
You will receive, review and triage safeguarding information, assess risk and urgency, and ensure concerns are documented, escalated and shared appropriately. You will support the 0-19 duty function, respond to professional enquiries, participate in safeguarding meetings, and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners. The role primarily involves attending safeguarding meetings across 0-19, safeguarding decision making, information sharing, maintaining accurate records, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the development of consistent safeguarding practice across the service.
The post has limited routine clinical work and does not hold a traditional Health Visiting or School Nursing caseload.
