At Welsh Water, we believe every role plays a vital part in creating a safe, welcoming, and efficient workplace. We’re looking for a Porter / Facilities Operative who enjoys variety, teamwork, and making a real difference every day.

This is more than just moving parcels – it’s about supporting people, creating comfortable spaces, and ensuring our offices run smoothly. You’ll work closely with our facilities Management team, helping colleagues across the business and contributing to a positive, safe environment.

Summary Of Duties
  • Delivering mail and parcels with care and accuracy.
  • Helping set up meeting rooms so teams can collaborate effectively.
  • Supporting office moves and furniture arrangements – making spaces work for people.
  • Carrying out health and safety checks to keep everyone safe.
  • Assisting with fire evacuations and seasonal plans like Winter Management.
  • Performing light maintenance tasks and repairs – no two days are the same!
Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as a key front-of-house contact, providing a welcoming and professional service to colleagues, customers and visitors.
  • Managing visitor arrivals, reception services and telephone enquiries.
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day delivery of Facilities Services across Welsh Water sites.
  • Building strong relationships with Facilities Management service providers to support effective service delivery.
  • Assisting with Health & Safety activities, including fire procedures, evacuations, site inspections, first aid and security arrangements.
  • Coordinating meeting room bookings and hospitality requirements across Facilities-managed sites.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing post, parcels, courier services and special deliveries.
  • Supporting the Facilities Manager with office inspections,  administration, Facilities Helpdesk activities and other Facilities-related duties.

About You Essential Qualifications
  • Certification (or equivalent demonstrable skill) in basic IT systems, with good knowledge of and experience of using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Essential Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Experience of undertaking similar roles or responsibilities to that of a Portering position, such as working in deliveries, postal services, facilities support, property maintenance, building maintenance, or general repair, painting, and decorating roles.
  • Experience in general repairs and building fabric - previous building trade background or general property maintenance / repairs experience.
  • Experience in dealing with members of the public – previously having worked in a front of house role on Reception OR in a customer facing role.
  • Experience in making and receiving phone calls and enquiries, dealing with customers and members of the public over the phone.
  • Some knowledge or experience of Health and Safety Legislation.

The shift pattern for this role is Monday
- Friday 10.00am - 18.00.
