Abatec is seeking an Estimator to join a well-established Civil Engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure across South Wales. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, out client is seeking experienced Estimating professionals to join their pre-construction team and play a key role in securing and delivering a diverse range of civil engineering projects.

With projects ranging from £10k to £50m, this opportunity offers the chance to work across a broad & diverse range of civil engineering & infrastructure schemes; highways, water, utilities, & earthworks.

As Estimator, you will:
  • Lead and/or support the tendering process from initial enquiry through to final submission and handover.
  • Prepare detailed estimates and undertake accurate quantity take-offs (QTO) from drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Produce Bills of Quantities and detailed measurements using relevant estimating/measurement software.
  • Measure works from 2D and 3D drawings, with strong earthworks measurement experience particularly valuable.
  • Review tender documentation, identifying risks, opportunities, queries and potential value-engineering solutions.
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring technical and commercial compliance.
  • Attend tender reviews, client meetings and negotiations where required.
  • Maintain awareness of current market conditions, construction rates, methodology and industry best practice.
Our client requires an Estimator with:
  • HNC/HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction or a related discipline is desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar position within Civil Engineering / Construction industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of risk, buildability and project methodology.
  • Experience with Causeway or comparable estimating/measurement software would be beneficial.
  • Ability to produce accurate quantities and measurements and communicate these clearly to estimators, commercial teams and the wider business.
  • Experience undertaking quantity take-offs from drawings (desirable)

Salary band: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum & depending on experience
