Teaching Personnel are recruiting Unqualified Teaching Assistants to support our Primary schools across Newport and the surrounding areas from September 2026
.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get their foot in the door in education.
No school-based experience is required - we're looking for people with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in supporting children.

What does the role involve?

• Supporting pupils in the classroom with learning activities
• Working 1:1 or in small groups with children who need extra support
• Helping pupils stay focused, engaged and confident in lessons
• Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN) such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or social/emotional difficulties
• Assisting the class teacher with day‑to‑day classroom tasks
• Helping to create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

• A university student or graduate looking for school experience
• Finishing college and interested in working with children
• Considering a future career in teaching or education
• Studying Psychology, Childhood Studies, Education, Sport, Health & Social Care or a similar course
• Calm, proactive, reliable and happy to get stuck in
• Someone who can build strong relationships with children and staff

Before you can be cleared to work with us,
all candidates must complete our full vetting process
.

This includes:

• An enhanced DBS check (or DBS on the Update Service)
• EWC Registration
• Two years of references / 24 months of referencing history
• Completion of our safeguarding training course

if any part of the vetting process is not completed, you will not be cleared for work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
