Primary School Intervention Teacher - Newport September 2026 Start

Do you enjoy helping pupils overcome challenges and seeing the difference that targeted support can make?

Academics is a renowned education recruitment agency, working with a well-established primary school in Newport who are looking to appoint a Primary Intervention Teacher from September 2026.

This role will focus on providing additional support to pupils who may be finding certain areas of their learning challenging. You will work with individuals and small groups, delivering focused sessions across areas such as phonics, reading, writing and maths.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with class teachers to understand pupils’ needs and put appropriate support in place. The school is looking for someone who can make learning accessible, encourage pupils when they find things difficult and help them recognise their own progress.

This could be a great opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working more closely with individual pupils and would like a role where they can see the impact of their teaching on a smaller scale. Applications are welcomed from Newly Qualified Teachers and experienced Primary Teachers.

What we’re looking for:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), including Newly Qualified Teachers.
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils who need additional help with their learning.
  • A good understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly phonics, reading, writing and maths.
  • The ability to adapt teaching and activities to suit individual pupils and small groups.
  • A patient, encouraging and positive approach when working with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with class teachers.
  • Good organisation and classroom management skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Two recent professional references.
Why apply through Academics?
  • Competitive daily pay of £172.98.
  • Holiday pay included in your daily rate.
  • Opportunities to work within supportive and inclusive schools across South Wales.
  • Ongoing guidance from a dedicated consultant with direct experience working in primary schools who understands the challenges of the classroom.
  • Flexible, long-term and permanent opportunities to suit your career goals.

If you're a teacher who enjoys giving pupils that extra bit of support and helping them build confidence in their learning, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
