About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate Unqualified Teachers across Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals considering a career in education to gain valuable classroom experience.

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher, ensuring pupils remain on task and engaged with the work set.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Supporting pupils with their learning and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff at the end of the day
  • Experience supporting children or young people in a transferable setting
  • Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged pupils
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
  • Experience/qualifications working in education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or care settings
  • Graduates studying/studied core subjects, education etc.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, ALN, or behavioural needs
  • Welsh language skills
    , particularly spoken Welsh
  • Experience within PRUs, alternative provision, secure units, or specialist educational settings
  • Background in mental health, social care, or criminal justice environments
  • Previous Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or behaviour support experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
