The OpportunityAre you an experienced English Teacher or Lecturer passionate about helping learners develop confidence in literacy and communication?
Aspire People are working in partnership with Further Education colleges across Newport to recruit dedicated English professionals to deliver GCSE English Language and Essential Skills English programmes.
Whether you're an experienced FE Lecturer, Secondary English Teacher, or an education professional with strong English teaching experience, we'd love to hear from you.
The RoleWorking within a college environment, you will:
- Deliver engaging GCSE English Language and Essential Skills English lessons to learners aged 16+
- Support students working towards achieving essential literacy qualifications for employment, apprenticeships and further study
- Prepare learners for GCSE English examinations and assessments
- Differentiate learning to support a wide range of abilities and learning needs
- Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Support and motivate learners who may have previously struggled with English
- Develop learners' reading, writing, speaking and communication skills
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to drive learner achievement and success
- A Degree in English, English Literature, Language, Education or a related subject, or substantial English teaching experience
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, QTS, QTLS or equivalent) is desirable
- Experience delivering GCSE English and/or Essential Skills English
- Strong understanding of current English curriculum requirements
- Excellent classroom management and learner engagement skills
- A passion for improving learner outcomes and confidence in English
- Experience supporting learners with ALN/SEN is advantageous
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
