Graduate Transport Planner – Bristol

We are looking for a Graduate Transport Planner to join a growing transport planning team in Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to build a career within transport planning, working alongside experienced consultants on a variety of exciting and technically challenging projects across the UK.

You’ll gain exposure to all aspects of transport planning, from data collection and analysis through to the preparation of transport assessments, technical reports and supporting documentation for planning applications.

The Role

As a Graduate Transport Planner, you will:

  • Assist with the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Undertake traffic and transport data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist with junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
  • Carry out research into transport networks, development proposals and relevant planning policy.
  • Assist with parking, accessibility and sustainable transport assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, developers and other project stakeholders.
  • Support senior team members on a range of residential, commercial, retail and mixed-use developments.
  • Contribute to projects from initial feasibility through to planning submission and delivery.
  • Develop your technical knowledge and understanding of the UK transport planning and development process.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing a career in transport planning and has a genuine interest in the built environment and sustainable transport.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Mathematics or another relevant subject.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • An interest in transport, highways and the planning/development sector.
  • Previous experience within transport planning is advantageous but not essential
    , as full training and support will be provided.
