Principal Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to lead the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of a major network assets. This is a leadership role focused on delivering operational excellence, safety culture transformation, and long-term asset performance.

• Lead the delivery of building & civils inspection, maintenance, and renewals
• Develop and implement annual business plans aligned with safety, compliance, and budget targets
• Drive cultural transformation in safety and engineering assurance
• Ensure compliance with standards, CDM regulations, and the Engineering Management Plan
• Lead and develop a skilled, competent, and flexible engineering team
• Collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to innovate and improve performance
• Create and implement weather resilience and system integration strategies

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + relevant professional qualification
• Strong technical experience in infrastructure inspections and maintenance
• Proven leadership and communication skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
• High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems
• Background in railway operations or safety-critical engineering roles
