Reed Finance are working with a Bristol based public sector organisation recruiting for a Head of Finance. Salary up to £62,500  generous pension Hybrid / Flexible working Ongoing professional development A supportive and collaborative leadership environment The opportunity to make a significant impact within a respected public sector organisation This is a key role with responsibility for ensuring high-quality financial management, accounting, reporting, governance, and compliance across the organisation.

Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide expert financial advice, support strategic decision-making, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen financial performance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities Lead the annual budget-setting process, identifying and managing key financial risks. Provide high-quality financial reports, analysis, and assurance to senior leadership teams and governance boards. Lead the preparation of the Annual Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Deliver financial modelling and business case appraisals to support investment decisions and organisational planning. Lead, develop, and motivate the Finance Team, supporting professional development, succession planning, and talent management.

Oversee treasury management activities and ensure compliance with relevant strategies and professional standards. Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems, and controls. About You We are looking for a qualified finance professional with: A recognised accountancy qualification (CCAB/CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Significant senior-level finance experience. Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, accounting, and governance. Experience producing statutory accounts and managing external audit requirements.

Excellent leadership and people management skills. Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities. The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
