Occupational Health Nurse Advisor

Main Duties

• Undertake management referrals and self-referral occupational health assessments
• Provide evidence-based advice on fitness for work, absence management, and workplace adjustments
• Deliver health surveillance programmes and vaccination services
• Complete pre-employment screening and immunisation reviews
• Support safety-critical roles, including ambulance service staff
• Contribute to the delivery of services for external commercial clients
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records using electronic systems
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver an effective and responsive service

• Is a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Post basic qualification at either diploma or degree level in Occupational Health or relevant subject, or working towards

• NEBOSH qualification
• Relevant teaching qualification Relevant health promotion qualification
• Relevant management qualification

• Demonstrates knowledge of occupational health legislation and best practice
• Has experience managing a varied and complex clinical caseload
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Can work autonomously, prioritise workload, and make sound clinical decisions
• Is confident using IT systems and electronic patient records

• NHS Occupational Health experience

We are seeking experienced and motivated Occupational Health Nurse Advisors to join our integrated Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service, working collaboratively across Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

The varied caseload offers a rewarding mix of clinical practice, advisory work, and service development., Working as a partnership, both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have a shared vision for excellence in care for our patients and communities;

with a set of strategic aims underpinning how we will achieve this. The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.
